Today we’re celebrating Takeover Day! It’s a celebration of children and young people’s contributions to museums, galleries, arts organisations, archives and heritage sites. We invited 10 members of our Young Curators’ and Archaeologist Club (YACC) to come along and become curators of the day.
Our team selected objects for display and took on the task of writing exhibitions labels to go along __with them! They really enjoyed getting hands-on __with our collection and got real experience of what it’s like to work in a Museum with lots of fascinating (but often fragile) old things. They took ownership of the display plan to bring back their families and friends to see it and as Museum, we got a better understanding of young people’s interests and needs. It also enthused our staff to continue our work with YACC and plan an even bigger and better event next year.
